John Vella is a songwriter and composer from Sydney, Australia. Inspired by a close friend he purchased the beginnings of his home studio during his second year of university in 2003, and hasn’t looked back.
Vella studied Industrial Design, but spent his year’s there studying songcraft for the most part. His passion for songwriting led him to design a thesis product for musicians that saw him nominated for the Dyson Junior Design Award and Braun Prize in 2007. ‘SongCatcher’, the evolution of this project, was released as an iPhone app in 2010.
He has played guitar for and sung in numerous bands, played festivals, toured his native Australia, and done a few special shows around the globe, including London’s “Ronnie Scott’s” and New Yorks “The Bitter End.”
A lover of the studio, you can find him immersed in his own one most days, doing what he does best, writing music.
