As manager of Creative Services in the New York office, I spend the majority of my time listening to music. Whether it’s sourcing tracks for our clients’ television series, films, ads and games, discussing new pieces with our composers, or scouring Soundcloud for fresh and innovative tunes, my ears are usually locked to my headphones.
One of the most exciting elements of working in this industry is that music is constantly evolving, and now that musicians have more outlets and tools than ever before to push the limits of their creativity, the abundance of unique styles is truly amazing.
Prepping for the 2nd Annual NATPE Celebration
When I was invited to DJ at the NATPE celebration I jumped at the opportunity. I was born and raised in Miami, so playing a gig on South Beach was a dream come true.
In the weeks before the event, I put in hours and hours of prep choosing the music for my set. It was imperative that what I played was not only going to create the perfect atmosphere, but also reflect the values of Audio Network and the company’s dedication to quality and ingenuity.
I had a blast, and loved being able to chat with guests when I wasn’t mixing. The greatest compliment I received was that it was impossible to distinguish commercial tracks from the ones in our library, which attests the authenticity of our catalogue and the talent of the composers.
Though I was originally scheduled to play until 11pm, the party was still going strong at that time, so the tunes didn’t stop until after midnight! Between the awesome, positive vibe of the crowd and the perfect beach weather, I would’ve played until sunrise.
The Set
The set started off with the Audio Network tracks “Anthem 2” by Gareth Johnson and led into “Goldbar” by the Skinner brothers then later on closed out with “So Much Left to Say” by Bob Bradley, Nick McEnally, Josh Weller, and Giuseppe De Luca. It also included remixes of tracks that I really dig – Penguin Prison’s “Fair Warning” (Club Cliqué Actualité Remix), Miami Horror’s “Holidays” (Lenno & Jesse Oliver Remix), and The Knocks’ “Brightside” (Fat Rat Remix) – among others.
It was an amazing night of music on Miami Beach!
